I picked up Demigod today and thought I'd give it a try. I always like playing RTS games in co-op mode with a friend of mine and Demigod seemed to be worth looking at. I bought it through Stardock, the online distribution system similar to Steam and Direct2Drive. The one difference with Stardock is that they do not use digital rights management, yay! This means no nasty rootkits or strange restrictions on how many PC's I can install the game on. Considering I personally have over 6 machines this is a good thing. I have a laptop that rarely moves, one that travels with me, another for travel that is non-work, two desktops (that I actively use), and a slew of other machines. As you can guess, having a limit on how many machines I can install a game on is a pain in the rear. Anyways, I digress…. (…)

Left 4 Dead, by Valve Software, makers of Half-Life for those of you who have been living in a cave for the past 10 years, has been released in Demo form for all to enjoy through Steam (Valve's distribution system.) The game launches for sale on November 18th. I downloaded the demo via Steam and played it for an hour today in single player mode to see what it's like. The game is fast and furious with little time to take a break. At first glance this may be a downside to the game since most squad games are about tactics and strategy, not all out running and gunning. But, the graphics, setting, and general polish of the game are top-notch and the concept of a 4-person game built around the co-operative experience from the ground up is VERY promising. I can't wait to try it with 3 other friends soon.
So I picked up Red Alert 3 from Fileplanet.com's Direct2Drive service the other day and was hoping for the next evolution of the RTS game. (…)
